No Heat? Emergency Heating Help in South Central PA
When the house is getting cold, call and tell the provider it's a no-heat situation so they can prioritize.
No heat (emergency)
What usually goes wrong
If you have no heat, say so right away when you call, and mention anyone in the house who is elderly, very young or medically vulnerable. Availability for after-hours and weekend visits depends on the provider, and emergency visits can cost more; ask about the service fee before they come out.
While you wait: keep interior doors closed, use safe space heaters away from anything flammable, and if temperatures are well below freezing, open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls and let faucets drip to protect pipes.
Never use an oven, grill or generator indoors for heat.
